Professional Experience

My personal, professional, and educational background all center around mental health support, advocacy, and recovery. I have more than 15 years of experience working with adults, children, and families, and offering mental health support in both English and Spanish. Over the years, I have worked as a: 

  • Peer support specialist

  • Psychoeducation provider

  • Educational and financial aid advisor 

  • Community resource specialist

  • Spanish language translator/interpreter

EDUCATION & TRAINING

My educational experience includes obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies from UW-Eau Claire and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UW-Stout. For my Master’s degree, I specialized in both Counseling Children and Adolescents as well as Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counseling.

My work is informed by trainings I have completed including, but not limited to:

lived experience

On a personal note, I have lived experience in many of the specialties listed above. Most notably, I spent years struggling with severe symptoms of bipolar disorder and psychosis beginning in my late 20s. I am very open in discussing my life experiences with those I work with. I look forward to sharing more about myself when we begin working together. I hope you will learn from my story and feel inspired by hearing how far I’ve come!
